Platform
There are NFT games for Android, iOS, Windows, and Linux. There are almost no such projects for game consoles (except for The Six Dragons and Alpha Kombat). Most games are for mobile gadgets, such as Cryptokitties, CropBytes, Splinterlands. All you need is a smartphone, and not a very powerful one at that. For the most part, these are fairly simple games with mechanics that are easy to master in 20-30 minutes.
Client games for the desktop usually have a more advanced graphics engine, i.e. they look more beautiful. At the same time, their mechanics are also simple. Examples of such games are Gods Unchained, Vulcan Verse, and Star Atlas. Please note that there are cross-platform games presented in both mobile and desktop versions. For example, Axie Infinity.
Among NFT games with no deposit and withdrawal of money, you can find browser-based projects (Battle Racers, Gold Fever, CryptoBlades). Their advantage is that they do not require installation. However, there are almost no three-dimensional games in this category, mostly card games or games with a simplified graphical interface. Another separate category is VR-enabled projects, with Somnium Space being the obvious flagship of this trend.
Format
The best NFT games are divided into two categories based on the commercial model. The first model is P2E. In such games, users have to buy their first NFT token, and then they can earn money without investments. An example of a game is Axie Infinity. The disadvantage is that you need some capital at the start. On the other hand, games of this category are elite, the community is less toxic and more serious, and the earning potential is higher.
The second model is F2P. Examples include Play Mining, Arc8, Crazy Defense Heroes. The main advantage of these games is that they are absolutely free. It means that players can start earning money without any initial capital. The disadvantage is that they are simpler in terms of mechanics than P2E games, the community is less friendly, and the earning potential is always lower.
Blockchain
There are quite a few options here. Top NFT games work on the Ethereum blockchain, for example, Axie Infinity and Decentraland. There are projects on Tron (CropBytes), EOS (Upland), WAX (Alien Words), and other networks. Games on the Binance Smart Chain are now gaining popularity, for example, Mobox is one of the leading projects on the platform.
It is hard to say which blockchain network is better to choose. The most popular networks are potentially more stable, but, for example, although Tron is seriously inferior to Ethereum in terms of capitalization, the NFT game CropBytes that runs on it is one of the most popular. So, according to the blockchain criterion, a game should be chosen based on the current state of the market and personal preferences.
Other criteria
Paid and free NFT games can be divided into genres: action (CryptoPlanet), adventure (Worldwide Webb), arcade (BombCrypto), farms (CropBytes), pet breeding (Genopets), Metaverse (The Sandbox), strategy (Splinter The genre is chosen strictly at the discretion of the gamer, there are no more or less priority areas. But what is important to pay attention to is the status of the game. For example, there are active projects (Axie Infinity) that can already be played with full functionality. It is beneficial to register in games at the presale stage (Vox) because it allows you to get unique bonuses. Games in the alpha and beta phases (Noa and Cronic) do not provide an opportunity to earn money instantly, but in the long run, registration at this stage will provide players with advantages.
